This practical sense is often unconscious, guiding behavior in ways that seem natural and intuitive. Additionally, habitus is embodied; it is inscribed in the physical bodies of individuals through repetitive practices. This embodiment means that habitus is not just a mental construct but is also manifested in bodily movements, postures, and gestures.

Collective and Individual Aspects

While habitus is experienced at the individual level, it also has a collective dimension. Members of the same social group or class often share similar habitus, reflecting common experiences and socialization processes. This collective habitus contributes to the reproduction of social structures, as individuals with similar dispositions engage in practices that reinforce existing power relations.
